Description:
Erect slender perennial, 60—100 cm high, often in dense tufts; whole plant,
especially racemes, often tinged with purple. Leaves flat, narrow, 2-4 mm wide.
Racemes usually in pairs, rather slender, 5—8 cm long. Flowers Dec – April.
Habitat:
Occurs in grasslands with a high rainfall as well as open bushveld.
Distribution:
Throughout tropical Africa.
Uses:
Average to poor grazing grass. Palatability decreases as the plant matures.
