The mountain reedbuck occurs in three separate geographical areas: between eastern Nigeria and western Cameroon , from central Ethiopia to northern Tanzania through south-eastern Sudan , north-eastern Uganda and Kenya ; in South Africa , Swaziland and Les otho , and marginally in southern Mozambique and south-eastern Botswana . A rough distribution map was obtained from Skinner & Smithers (1990). Information and maps from East (1988, 1989, 1990) were then utilised to refine the map, as indicated by Dr. R. East ( 23 June '97 )

Categorical-discrete (CD) distribution model

This species occurs in mountain and rocky hill slopes, where it prefers grassy areas with scattered bush (Stuart & Stuart, 1997; East, 1988, 1990).
